Shawn Deysel Voice Overs
Shawn Deysel is a 55-year-old South African radio presenter, voice artist and emcee.
In the 1970s, barely old enough to reach the gramophone turntable, Shawn’s passion for entertainment began.
By the time he was in high school, Shawn began honing his entertainment skills by deejaying at school dances and even availed himself to deejay at your house party, for the right fee, of course.
Along with his dad, he built up a proper deejay set and was a household name in his area, becoming the go-to man for all weddings, fashion shows and 21 st birthday bashes. But it was when an English-born radio presenter approached Shawn at a function and remarked about the uniqueness of his voice that he knew that he had a future as a broadcaster.
In 1995, the community radio station 90.6fm opened and Shawn immediately auditioned for an early morning show between 10pm and 2am. While successful in getting the show, he still kept his physically demanding 8-5pm job. Gaining in popularity, Shawn became a household name in the club scene as well as a prominent emcee in the community. Not long thereafter he joined the radio station on a permanent basis adding marketing, sales, voice overs and production to his growing resume.
Shawn’s radio career spanning 19 years includes hosting the breakfast show for a decade as well as becoming one of the most recognized voices in the Vaal Triangle. The influx of voice work necessitated a home studio where to the present-day Shawn records and produces commercials for major national and international brands.
Excelling at both sales and marketing, in 2014 he was approached to join a large South African retailer as Marketing Manager. Though he has moved into the corporate sphere, Shawn still finds opportunities to use his voice, such as emceeing corporate events, voicing presentations, and creating internal videos. As of 2022, Shawn can be heard hosting three radio shows a week, including an online radio show which he does from his home studio.
When not entertaining crowds or recording radio commercials, Shawn is happiest at ho me with his wife of 31 years, and his two children.
